...Thanks Stefan (apologies for the slow response).

I only skimmed Zamoyski's book looking at the relevant chapters for our games last year (Borodino and Maloyaroslavets). I am putting together 'reviews in brief' for the books that I used like that (Zamoyski's and Brett-James'), so will definitely point readers to the more complete review on your blog (for anyone reading this, it is at http://montys-caravan.blogspot.com.au/2013/02/book-review-1812-by-adam-zamoyski.html)James Fisherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17897755636246185173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8493556920707083758.post-83432598721278659632013-05-08T16:51:02.934+08:002013-05-08T16:51:02.934+08:00Hi James,
thanks for this good review. Additional...Hi James,

thanks for this good review. Additionally I could recommend "1812" by Adam Zamoyski. A good read as well and it seems very well researched.

Cheers
StefanStefan (aka. I have been a 'student'...I agree completely. I have been a 'student' of the Napoleonic period for over 35 years and I still learn new aspects, details or angles with each book that I read. The old truism comes to the fore, "the more that you know the more that you realise that you do not know".
The 1812 campaign is particularly remarkable as a story of human struggle and the devastation and futility of war. This trilogy is one of the most vivid accounts that I have read--and I have been through quite a number now, particularly with our 'research' last year (ha, ha)!James Fisherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17897755636246185173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8493556920707083758.post-39172909071963117892013-05-07T08:34:04.347+08:002013-05-07T08:34:04.347+08:00Thanks James. Love the term 'les hourrassiers'.Silenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07783583643649704728noreply@blogger.com
