At the scales mentioned the ~50 cm x 50 cm La Haie Sainte is to scale and will be garrisoned by 20 potentially increasing to 40 figures. It will mean that the actual positioning of the garrison will be important, not the usual assumption of 'firing all around', and we may even need a few special, scenario rules, but it should work. I want to use Zimmermann's rules which were written for 1:20, but have mechanisms so that they scale for large actions, avoiding getting immersed in minutiae that are irrelevant and/or decrease playability for little gain or adding 'fast-play' mechanics (so common in 'modern' rules) that make a game sans historical feel!
We just have to see how it goes once we get there...!!James Fisherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17897755636246185173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8493556920707083758.post-44510277437099943302017-06-23T14:59:40.910+08:002017-06-23T14:59:40.910+08:00Impressive...and useful!Impressive...and useful!Philhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08913029478686087197noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8493556920707083758.post-36672021179828267962017-06-22T19:18:55.008+08:002017-06-22T19:18:55.008+08:00Oh, wonderful. Looking at the calendar the weekend of 6/7 Jan would be the one I could make.
I'm reading a book at the moment by Dominic Lieven titled "Russia against Napoleon" (Penguin) which I found by chance at the airport bookshop. Very good book, focusing on the Russian perspective of 1812-1814, including the events and circumstances leading up to that. But you probably already have it. Painting Russians at the moment so it is helping with the enthusiasm. The armies are still growing, I'll put some pics up soon of what I've finished since my last post, which was a long while ago as you know.
As always I'll keep an eye on your blog, give us a call anytime you feel like a chat.John McDougallhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15243360144915390414noreply@blogger.com
