Might have been around the time I was having trouble with the Bruce Quarrie rules. Never played them. I think I tried WRG Horse and Musket instead, but didn't like them - the scale was too low (as in I wanted to command armies). That was part of the attraction to Empire and then Napoleon's Battles, but I digress.

Great to see those line of Airfix figures doing sterling service.Sun of Yorkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07315805432481558574noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8493556920707083758.post-61941246384483906602014-12-30T10:37:17.785+08:002014-12-30T10:37:17.785+08:00Looks like a very satisfying game, with kudos to M...Looks like a very satisfying game, with kudos to Marshal Daun of both history and tabletop fame.

This is a set of rules I don't recall. although I do have a copy of Tricolor myself as well, but never played them. Never did pick up a copy of them, though. I appreciate you giving a good overview of the rules mechanisms.

I did purchase the Napoleonics rules, Tricolor from Wargamer's Digest. Tricolor was great fun as a kid in high school using Airfix plastic figures. I have often thought about giving Tricolor another try some 40 years later to see how it holds up. I still have a soft spot for some of the Old School and simple rules.

Great looking game table and enjoyable BatRep.

"Refreshingly Old?"
