I have found much higher res versions online. Also there isnt really that much art in it.

The really impressive books i think are those Jubilaeumsausgabe for the Befrieungskriege. The tomes for this works from around 1913 have so much art in them you wont find anywhere else. although its black and white it is still very good quality.
the other is the excellent Cavalry Outpost Duties book that was released in a large illustrated format. it combines Detaille and Rocco and so many others into one volumeMitchell Noltehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16792959084106299805noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8493556920707083758.post-14323699242648413602014-09-23T22:14:35.612+08:002014-09-23T22:14:35.612+08:00Sorry Paul, I have not hear of one. A search found one entitled "A War of Images: Russian Popular Prints, Wartime Culture and National Identity, 1812-1945" by Stephen Norris, but I doubt this is the one that you are after.
There are a few marvellous websites with images from Russian artists' paintings of the period:
https://artoftherussias.wordpress.com/tag/napoleon/
http://www.realartist.ru/genres/portrait/?PAGEN_1=1
http://culture.ru/en/museums/war-galleryJames Fisherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17897755636246185173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8493556920707083758.post-7333934497437256512014-09-23T21:24:23.812+08:002014-09-23T21:24:23.812+08:00Sounds great James,

It's great to find paintings about which one is previously unaware, hey?
There's still something about books, isn't there? Besides version 1 of paper is 'compatible' with version X! Interestingly, many of the young people whom I have contact with (children, grand children and students still prefer the printed form).James Fisherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17897755636246185173noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8493556920707083758.post-68461420744960663562014-09-21T18:32:12.710+08:002014-09-21T18:32:12.710+08:00Hi Gonsalvo, I think such considerations did mater...Hi Gonsalvo, I think such considerations did materially affect the production of this book. To my eyes it looks like it was put together using royalty-free images, out of copyright 'commons' stock. I discuss this a bit in my reviews of the same title, at Amazon UK, an on my blog:

Amazon review:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R3MLSGEBKMUJ4B/ref=cm_cr_dp_title?ie=UTF8&ASIN=1783462507&channel=detail-glance&nodeID=266239&store=books

Blog review:
http://aquestionofscale.blogspot.co.uk/2014/09/book-review-napoleon-on-campaign.html

But, like you, I'll be hanging on to my library as long as I can!
Regards

SebSeb Palmerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02825706166433888211noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8493556920707083758.post-62989743870704052092014-09-06T09:42:03.117+08:002014-09-06T09:42:03.117+08:00Interesting collection! In another generation or so, how many people will keep many print books on hand... not that I have any intention of giving mine up any time soon, mind you! :-)Gonsalvohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16531623280789478092noreply@blogger.com
