100 Napoleonic Sets By 2015

On 8th April, a thread was started on Hat’s forum under the title “100 Napoleonic Sets for 2015”. It has generated a lot of discussion about the seriousness or otherwise of the original post, if it is ‘fair’ to have one period produced über alles, if it is possible to find 100 sets to produce, what the 100 sets should be, if anyone could buy 100 sets in a year and the like. No-one has yet bitten the bullet and made a list, so it is clearly our civil duty to do so!
Below are 100 Napoleonic sets. This list only includes sets that are currently not produced by any manufacturer and/or not available and/or not adequately covered. They have been listed by the nations in priority order according to the frequency of involvement in the Napoleonic Wars.
I was only half-way through the Russians when I reached 100, so the list does not include Prussians, British, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, Danish, Ottomans, Americans or others. So, Napoleonic figures really are a near bottomless pit!
Which of your favourites (not currently available in 1/72nd) have I missed?!

  1. As the one who started the thread, I can only say, "Thank you James Fisher for stepping up to the plate and devising a list."

While I don't collect Napoleonics, I have purchased a few for other purposes, I use the HaT French wagons for ACW, and even WWI and WWII. I have used some of the figures, artillery and commanders for Alamo Mexicans to supplement the Imex sets. I would game War of 1812 if there were specific figures for it.

I made the suggestion because I think the figures would sell. It would cause HaT to become the defacto choice for all Napoleonic games since no other company could ever compare with their current 130 sets being given 100 additional sets. I think HaT would make money on the deal.

  2. Thanks for your comment and for looking over the list Mike. You have really started something. As I started to think seriously about composing a list I thought that I'd be able to fill 100 sets with French-allied only—and without the necessity of producing sets that are largely unnecessary because they can be covered by painting 'conversions'!
